Hey!

Ron said you called while I was in the Hospital --thanks!

I'm still a mess, but I'm still trying, too.

I'd love to tell you everything, but that would take a very long time.

I am (finally) writing again (you've always been a good influence on me).  It is all about my stroke.  It is still in progress.  I wonder, though, do you know anyone who might be interested in publishing it? Or how I might start to look?  It's mostly for other stroke victims, of whom there seem  to be quite a few.

You looked great when you were here in the fall.  I hope your new baby, and your old one, too, is well. Tell Julianna that I am looking forward to meeting her.

Despite the signature, it will be at least another year before I can go back to work.

Write if you can;  this address should be fine.

Ciao,

Lilian

Oh my God! How great to hear from you, Lilian! I'm so relieved and delighted that you're better, or better enough to write. I'm in Maui, on a 6 week stay with the whole family, which is to say it's not much of a vacation (hardly any waves and less time to surf) but we're glad to be out of Brooklyn for a long stint finally. My agent would be interested in reading your mss. His name is Ryan Harbage. He has  a very eclectic list. Just tell him I recommended you of course: Ryan Harbage <ryan@fischerharbage.com>. I'll let him know you'll be querying him. More soon! Love, T

WOW! is all I can say   And thank you.  I am a little shakey today, but I'll try tomorrow.  Richard Flynn's grandson, Theodore, was also born that day!

Where am I going with all this?

I work at Croom Vocational High School, where I teach 12th grade English, am the English Teacher Coordinator, and am Instructional Coordinator.  I like traveling, reading, and swimming. I earned my M. Ed. from George Washington University's Graduate School of Education and Human Development.

As part of STEP, I would like to improve my use of technology within my classroom 1) for myself, and 2) for my students. Since I know that I am a "boring" teacher, I would also like to learn to use technology as a tool for reaching my students.

Google Video, chat, tips

Today was an advanced features day.  Among other things, we were given Eyeball web cams.  We had them in our hands for a few short moments, and were told that we need to employ them as part of our google project, but now they are being "processed" by Ms. Pockey.

A usual, we had a lot of adventures.  I am still struggling with this blogging stuff.  It doesn't like me, and I don't like it, but it is a good place to reflect on how much we are learning.

Today's STEP training

Today we learned about using google docs and how to post some of them to our web page.  It is really quite amazing all the things cloud computing makes possible.

I am so overwhelmed by all of this!

What I've done already

My Jeopardy test review game is the first thing I've done with this new STEP tool.  It worked well for one class, but not so well for the other.  I'm going to have to keep working on this.  It did keep the students' focus, though. (a free homework pass makes a really good prize for the winners.)

STEP Training # 1

9/29/2010

Today, a lot of good, general information about the Sharing Technology with Educators Program.

The coolest thing so far has been the Jeopardy game one can create at Jeopardylabs.com.  I am hopeful this will help motivate my students to study for their Beowulf test.
